Red light at 633 nanometers has a long enough wavelength to penetrate the epidermis (outermost layer of the skin) and reach the dermis (the middle layer of the skin). This enables it to reach fibroblasts, special types of cells that sit beneath the skin and manufacture collagen – a protein that helps tighten and firm the skin and heal wounds.
Key anti-aging benefits from red light therapy (face or body treatments)
Blue light at 415 nanometers works to improve the presence of mild-to-moderate acne by destroying the bacteria on the face and in the pores responsible for causing acne.
The P. Acnes bacteria is a harmless bacteria that exists and feeds off of human skin. In some cases, however, the bacteria can spread and grow. This clogs the pores and irritates the skin, which in turn produces the inflammation and redness commonly associated with acne.
Blue light activates a specific compound in the waste products of P. Acnes, turning the waste into a toxin that, while harmless to the person, destroys the bacteria and thus the cause of the acne.
An infrared sauna is a type of sauna that uses light to make heat. This type of sauna is sometimes called a far-infrared sauna. "Far" describes where the infrared waves fall on the light spectrum. A regular sauna uses heat to warm the air, which in turn warms your body. An infrared sauna heats your body directly without warming the air around you. Many studies have looked at using infrared saunas in the treatment of long-lasting health problems and found some proof that saunas may help. Conditions studied include high blood pressure, heart failure, dementia and Alzheimer's disease, headache, type 2 diabetes, and arthritis. But larger and more-exact studies are needed to prove these results. Some of these studies were also performed with people using a regular sauna. (excerpt taken from mayoclinic.org)

First spray tan jitters? Not to worry! We totally understand how complex the process of prepping for your first spray tan can seem if you have never gotten one before, but we would like to inform you that it’s actually SUPER easy! Here are 5 pro tips that will leave you with a natural-looking, streak-free glow.
TIP 1: Exfoliate, Shave and/or Wax 24-48 hours BEFORE your scheduled spray tan appointment.
Cosmetic appointments such as manicures, pedicures, hair coloring, etc. should also be completed at least 24 hours BEFORE your scheduled spray tan appointment so that your tan does not fade prematurely.
TIP 2: Arrive to your appointment with clean skin – do not apply moisturizers, deodorant, perfumes, makeup, etc. A blank canvas is the best base for a spray tan application!
TIP 3: Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing to your appointment to prevent bronzer from transferring. (If you don't wear dark clothes, it's okay - the bronzer will wash out when you wash your clothes.)
If you think it may rain/snow around the time of your appointment, make sure to bring an umbrella and/or rain jacket. Raindrops are a fresh glow’s greatest foe.
TIP 4: For best results, stay dry and avoid getting wet for 4-6 hours AFTER your spray tan and moisturize after showering.
TIP 5: Extend the life of your tan by adding a booster or any of our touch up products after and in between tans.
All Mystic Tan products are formulated with Hyaluronic Acid for deep hydration and D-Odor 200™ to virtually eliminate any tanning odor, however, we do have aromas available.
Gluten Free, Paraben Free, Cruelty Free, Nut Free, Vegan, Non-Comedogenic
The active ingredients in the spray tan solution are Eco-certified DHA (dihydroxyacetone) and Erythrulose. When sprayed on the skin, DHA reacts with the proteins in the skin’s superficial layer to form a golden-brown color. Your skin begins to darken 2-3 hours after application and reaches its peak color within 24 hours. The color will gradually fade through natural exfoliation, just like a tan from the sun. Erythrulose is similar to DHA as an active ingredient because it also produces color on the skin and is a naturally based sugar found in red raspberries. It works in combination with DHA to produce a tan that lasts longer, fades more evenly, and provides natural looking color for all skin types. Erythrulose continues to develop over 48 hours which extends the tan and creates the natural fade. Dihydroxyacetone (DHA) DHA is the main active ingredient. Basically, it is a simple carbohydrate derived from sugar cane and sugar beets.
